I got a Master degree in Maths and Counselling in Hong Kong.
Although the target of tutoring is most likely the "top" of the class, I don't agree with it totally. I think that the healthy growth of the student should be the most important target for education. Therefore I will alert about the ambitious stress in the lesson and help the students to progress in Maths results in a healthy way.
I will try to collect the pass paper for students to learn from the questions and practice the basic Maths skills progressively.
I have followed a student in Hong Kong until she finished the O-level maths exams. She was eager to learn the Maths and I helped her to understand what she need to learn. Although she was not satisfied with the final result, she still has the confidence to continue her future road.
I believe that Maths will help the students to think clearly and logically. Therefore I stress on the understanding of the basic Maths principle. When the student understand the maths thoroughly, he or she can complete the exam paper smoothly. Obviously, this is not enough to have a good grade. Hard working! Practice can make the student to finish the exam quicker. In addition, more views of different types of exercises can help the students to prepare for the exams since the exam will contain a lot of different versions of questions which are related to the same concepts. Understanding, hardworking, and more views are the key factors for the maths exams
