My name is Siraaj and I`m a medical doctor who recently graduated from the University of Bristol Medical School. I`m taking a year out from clinical practice to work on some personal projects, and will be tutoring during this year. I`ve also completed a degree in Anatomy, Developmental and Human Biology at King`s College London.
I have 4 years of tutoring experience under my belt, as well as having taught on a variety of subjects to Bristol medical students. Over this time, and during my own studies, I`ve come to appreciate how much more effective it is to fully wrap one`s head around concepts and build from the ground up, rather than focusing on rote learning facts and figures. Whilst some of this is undeniably needed for some exams/courses, I`m a firm believer the former approach is the key to true academic success long-term. It certainly helps facilitate the mindset of a lifelong learner too.
In terms of my approach, I believe any learning environment should be a safe space in which to make mistakes and flesh out ideas, as I`ve seen time and time again that students stumble on confidence and unwillingness to make mental leaps, despite being completely capable. We will likely gauge existing knowledge and skills with an assessment, before coming up with a joint plan to meet goals in the desired time-frame.
If this all sounds like a good match, don`t hesitate to get in contact.
I hope to see you soon!
