I have developed a programme of lessons that are built around the DofE’s Assessment Objectives, but are specifically exam-board agnostic. The aim is to improve skills that are important not only for exams, but for life.
My lessons draw on the importance of personalisation and repetition. The approach has structure that pupils work well with, but can be tailored to prioritise the focus in the most helpful of areas.
Maths covers the pathway topics that help pupils become mathematically fluent and able to access many other topics in the curriculum.
English includes comprehension, critical evaluation, and creative writing. All lessons incorporate new vocabulary, technical terms and reading exercises including many of the texts found on the curriculum.
My aim is to make knowledge intrinsic, not just subjects to be learned and then forgotten. My approach is informal and encourages a shared investment in the time being spent together. The method and pace adapts to suit each student, giving each lesson a personalised structure.
