I've been teaching History at UK state schools and international schools for 30+ years. I'm a UK state qualified teacher (PGCE) for the 11-18 age range and am educated to PhD level. My experience is with UK exams and exam boards, but I have also taught the International Baccalaureate and am an IB examiner.
I use a student-centred approach that promotes critical thinking. This is because for all exams you need to have good analytical and evaluative skills to get into the higher mark bands. You will actively participate in the lessons, giving your opinions and, crucially, supporting those opinions. You will learn how to assess, analyse and evaluate sources, essay writing skills and much more. I use both exam board validated material and my own resources.
