in my experience, visual learning as well as repetitive retrieval practice allowed me to achieve highly in my GCSEs. my focus is organisation because an organised mind is the priority to beginning to learn a subject. i would start with a blurting process (seeing what the already know) then go through the session with exam questions and finish the session with another blurt of the same subject.
