I use visual and verbal teaching techniques, personalised per student depending on how they get on. I urge students to explain what I have taught back - active recall. I always expect them to remember and understand previous sessions work, and will revisit this is other sessions so it is always fresh.
I focus on exam techniques closer to the exam period and go through student papers with them trying to understand what went wrong and how they can improve.
I make a progress chart with each student to measure their understanding through the sessions and ensure they have developed their knowledge and understanding.
Above all, I create a sage space for the student and help them enjoy their studies. This is an important factor as some find their education very stressful.
