Private guitar tutoring provided by an undergraduate student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
I teach classical, acoustic and electric guitar open to beginner and intermediate level players. As a current student, I feel it is most beneficial to learn through experience and teaching is one of the key skills required in my career.
As a teacher, I encourage students to achieve their goals while delivering individualized feedback and support. I pay close attention to detail and am enthusiastic about helping students learn in a way that suits them.
For young beginners, I follow the ‘Guitarist Way’ method books and provide annotated copies of these for students. I also recommend and utilise the ABRSM Grades 1-8 ‘Scales & Arpeggios’ books.
My lessons consist of:
Technique (in both hands and posture)
Musicality (phrasing, timbre, tone, dynamics)
Note identification and score reading (rhythm/tempo, knowledge of the fretboard)
Aural skills (knowledge of harmony using ears)
As well as covering student’s pieces and repertoire. I respect student’s choice of what they would like to play in lessons alongside making suggestions and recommendations on what I believe would benefit them.
I will commute for home tutoring but also have the option for online lessons.
