Shona Macdonald

I am a qualified English Language tutor with over five years’ experience teaching children, teens, and adults. Since 2021, I have been teaching exclusively online, during which I completed a postgraduate diploma in education, focusing on teaching English in virtual environments. I am passionate about helping students achieve their language goals, whether they are young learners, teenagers, or adults preparing for exams or enhancing their communication skills.

I specialise in IELTS and Cambridge test preparation, providing structured, personalised lessons to help students navigate the requirements of these exams with confidence. In 2021, I completed a course from renowned International House on How to Teach IELTS online (Speaking and Writing), which has been reflected in my students' results. All of my clients have achieved at least a band 7.0, showing my dedication to effective, results-driven teaching and their hard work.

Working with young learners and teens is another area I enjoy, as I aim to make lessons engaging, interactive, and tailored to their needs, sparking enthusiasm for learning English.

I am also passionate about teaching conversational English, supporting students in building fluency and confidence for real-life situations. My lessons create a safe, supportive space where students feel comfortable practising and learning through mistakes. I adapt my teaching to suit each student’s unique learning style, strengths, and goals, ensuring lessons are both effective and enjoyable.

With patience, understanding, and a touch of humour, I aim to make learning English a positive experience for every student. Whether preparing for exams, improving speaking skills, or learning for personal growth, I am committed to helping my students succeed and develop a lifelong appreciation for the English language.
