The reason I got into education is to provide students with the same experience I had in school. My teachers instilled a sense of confidence and ambition which I followed a love for music into further education. Working in education allows me to create that feeling for students every day. As a teacher, I believe every student deserves the opportunity to experience exceptional teaching within a safe environment where students can become confident learners. I fulfil this by ensuring my core values are ingrained in every lesson I deliver, the content I provide is high-quality and planned to each and every student’s needs and so that every student's needs are met on a daily basis. I dedicate my teaching time and spare time in school to ensuring every student is accessing the learning to their full potential, understanding the content and making progress. Planning and preparing interactive and challenging lessons is essential in education to ensure full engagement. I pride myself for my passion and motivation to inspire students to engage and reach their full potential within the classroom. My passion shines through when I teach and I enjoy every minute when I’m teaching. I always include time within the curriculum for students to be able to understand and improve their work through directed independent reflective time, an important skill in self-evaluation.
In regards to my teaching style, I shape each and every lesson so that all students can enjoy, learn, access and progress. I take a modern approach to teaching using ICT, incorporating games and fun activities to assess and challenge students. I keep my practice up to date by researching new pedagogies, exploring new teaching styles and building work relationships where practices can be shared within the work community. Fortunately I have had the opportunity to teach across the curriculum ranging from KS3 to KS5 Music, Drama, Dance, Physical Education and Life studies. Being a Music teacher for KS3, KS4 and KS5 has challenged me in many ways, Music can be a difficult subject to engage all students and throughout my experience I have successfully developed the skills to build great relationships with students, plan engaging lessons differentiated to all students needs and create a trusting environment where student feel safe to fully immerse in music lessons which can include students being vulnerable amongst their peers.
