Shiho in a nutshell
I use images and other materials in my lessons to help the students match the word with the image.
First, I look at the image with my eyes, then I listen to the sound with my ears and pronounce it, repeatedly, so that my body learns it.
I will basically teach Japanese in honorific form. As you get used to it, I will also teach you how to speak in a friendly way. I will tell you over and over agai...

I will basically teach Japanese in honorific form. As you get used to it, I will also teach you how to speak in a friendly way. I will tell you over and over again until you learn to speak everyday Japanese. If you don't understand something, ask me again and again, even if it's the same thing. I will do my best to help you.
Once you are conversant enough to travel and shop, I will teach you the characters. There are so many different types of Japanese characters - hiragana, katakana and kanji - that it can be hard to remember. I will teach you hiragana first, then katakana, and then the most commonly used kanji, in the way I learnt them as a child.

I am Japanese. I lived and worked in Japan until two years before I moved to the UK. I studied Chinese and English at university. My experience of teaching languages includes teaching Japanese as a volunteer to international students for about a year when I was at university. I also did research on language teaching. As a working adult, I had the opportunity to work with Chinese and Korean trainees at my first company, where I occasionally taught them Japanese and introduced them to tourist attractions.
I was born and raised in Nagasaki, and after graduating from university I worked and lived in Fukuoka. I have interacted with people from many different regions, so I have almost no accent. I can teach basic Japanese manners as well as Japanese language. I also like visiting shrines, temples, onsen and limestone caves. If you like travelling and adventures, I can introduce you to some of them. I also like manga, anime and games and have attended many Comiket events. I can introduce you to some of them in Japanese too.
