I am a fully qualified science teacher with experience teaching all sciences to GCSE and Biology to A-level. The majority of my experience is with the WJEC exam board, however, I have some experience with AQA and OCR exam boards too. I have also worked in environmental education and community outreach. I have tutored several students privately, all of which have achieved a B grade or above in their exams.

For my teaching style, I adapt my lessons to each student. For teaching materials I use a mix of presentation slides for diagrams and visual media and exam-style questions, all whilst talking through key points in a Q&A discussion style. I first establish each student's base knowledge and plan sessions centred around their knowledge gaps, aligning with the exam board's specifications and content. As we work through the subject content I regularly test each student's learning through questioning, theoretical examples and exam-style questions. Closer to the upcoming exam dates I sit down with the student and go through past paper examinations and explain the mark scheme, showing where students lost marks and why they lost marks, as sometimes it is not a lack of knowledge but exam technique.

For in-person tutoring, I bring some printed materials and mini-whiteboards to supplement my teaching, as well as bringing a laptop to show visual media such as animations & scientific diagrams. For any online tutoring, this is much the same, except instead of printed materials the lessons can involve interactive worksheets & forms via Google Classroom. However, I will always recommend that each tutee makes their own notes to supplement any work done in session.
