In my maths lessons I foster a mindset of being able to tackle any problem by breaking it down into smaller ones. I teach with a philosophy that excellence in Maths is best achieved with practice, as the saying goes... practice makes perfect. I teach online, over a virtual whiteboard where I write and explain my systematic approach to a maths problem, and where my students are also able to collaborate. In this way, my teaching approach is dynamic and collaborative. I will often ask my students to send me their topics prior to the lesson, and will ask them to specify their doubts. This will allow me to start of my lessons by teaching and explaining my content, which I do thoroughly and to the point where my students understand. I then give my students practice questions from a wide range of resources I have, which will help them solidify the content they are being taught, before finally giving them exam style and more challenging questions, to stretch their thinking further, and to help them apply their knowledge in a vast range of contexts. By doing this I also encourage them to adopt a systematic and critical approach to the problem at hand, which over time has proven to have developed their mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
