As a new tutor, everything is going to hopefully be a learning opportunity for me and the student as I proceed. However, from my experiences at Harvard Summer School I fortunately gained experience in presenting - which will be innovative and hopefully exciting to provide guidance for my learners. I presented orally to audiences of up to 100 people, and to smaller groups of 15 individuals, which allowed me to understand how to share my ideas in a conscientious way for each audience. This was in both neurobiology and philosophy - which I feel will fundamentally strengthen my ability to aid individuals at national 5 and higher level in all areas of my specialties. I will create inviting lessons in a variety of methods as each individual is different - and hopefully I find the right balance to make a difference to their learning. There’s nothing worse than feeling like you have to drag yourself to a subject, believe me! And honestly that was me for National 5 biology, and I was able to turn myself around by creating my own personalised formats to strengthen my understanding of biology. I created myself past paper exam booklets that would tackle my areas of weakness, with detailed instructions of how to tackle each segment. I believe I could help a student with this, as I achieved A’s in English, RMPS and English, and more specifically I have a developed knowledge in understanding the SQA curriculum. I also achieved an A in applications of mathematics, and would love to encourage young people who want to achieve their potential in maths. In terms of RMPS, I focused on capital punishment, (non-) custodial sentences and Buddhism - which would be my limited specialty. I would love to help out in any way I possibly can.
