I am currently a student teacher in third year at Bethlehem Moravian Teachers’ College which is situated in my homeland, Jamaica. I have completed several hours of teaching episodes where I prepare both English Language and Literature lesson plans and execute them accordingly. I am a very patient person and I’m never hard on my students, which is why I tend to employ different types of engaging teaching styles and strategies which may correspond with learners’ multiple intelligences. My socializing, communication and listening skills are up to par. I love to hear from my students. It makes me happy when I get feedbacks from them as it aids in my preparation for future lessons and I also get to discover their strengths and weaknesses this way. I can incorporate both inductive and deductive approaches in my lessons, but I prefer to use the one that is more appropriate for my student’s level of competency. The method that fits their learning pattern is the one that I’ll stick with. Additionally, I hope to produce a positive classroom environment where my learners will feel comfortable and confident in learning. I will also ensure an open field for learning without embarrassment. Students should feel free to ask questions without fearing that they might be wrong. I like to assess my learners using various assessment tools as I believe learning should be exciting as well as a didactic experience for every individual. The contents that I teach includes (and is not limited to):
•The basics of English Grammar
•Reading and Writing
•Vocabulary
•Adjectives, Nouns, Verbs, Subject-Verb agreement, Punctuation marks etc.
I’m also willing to create lesson plans to teach students based on what they want or need to know. Please feel free to inquire about advanced or specific English topics.
