Hi there,
I'm Shannon and I'm a biology nerd looking to help those who need it find some joy in the subject and pass their exams. My aim is to help you believe in your own abilities and feel confident around biology.
I am a firm believe in interactive lessons where my students can have fun whilst also learning what they need to. I enjoy using platforms such as kahoot and quizlet which have helped me through my own exams. I am able to provide worksheets and constructive feedback on all work completed by students in which we can work through together any struggles you may be having. I myself did biology A-Level and really struggled with it to the point I nearly dropped the subject but with the right help/support from teachers I turned my struggles into passion for the subject and now I'm studying medical genetics which is quite the turn around. I know what it's like to need extra support with academic subjects and I'm hoping I can aid you in this by offering a friendly yet focused approach.
I will wish to look at what work you have been set/covering at school or college and ask what it is that you have found trickier and easier within these lessons so that I can come up with a tailored plan for each individual student. An individualised approach is something that I believe works best as every student has different strengths and areas of improvement, as well as different ways in which they learn best. All resources that I make, students will have complete access to and this could be ranging from power-points, worksheets, past exam papers, posters/mind-maps etc. I also offer feedback on what could be improved about my tutoring style too from parents and students as it is important to have an open working relationship to adapt learning so the student and tutor get's the most out of the time.
