I have been Tutoring since 2001, I have since gained a PGCE in Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in research into mathematical learning. I take a keen interest in how we learn and have a positive can-do attitude to learning. My students find me approachable and motivating, which enables me to build positive relationships which last beyond the learning.
My lessons are tailored to the individuals I teach. I start by getting to know my students as it is important to build a positive and happy environment to learn. I adjust the lesson to suit the student as it is very important for the student to be relaxed whilst they are learning, this will enhance the learning experience and the students can learn more in the given time. All my lessons follow the pattern of a starter, which is used to review prior knowledge, I then build on this knowledge during the lesson, reviewing and practising work as we go. I use interactive methods to help students understand concepts. This can be anything from a discussion a practical activities worksheet or making something. I usually give exam practice questions towards the end of a lesson to help students understand how to implement their knowledge into exam questions. I will spend time looking at exam skills with students as this will benefit all the students' GCSEs and is a fundamental part of achieving good results.
