I have had experience of teaching in schools during my student placements where I taught to the age groups of I delivered classes in line with the Scottish curriculum and this allowed me to build skills and qualities in my questioning, my listening and my adaptability in order to help students learn.
I use a "I do,you do" approach to scaffolding and modelling problems so that students know how to lay out their working while also using my examples as a visual guide. I try to incorporate real life examples within my lessons to help students understand the relevance of what they are learning. The use of applications such as Geogebra or Desmos are also utilised within my teaching to help students understand what they learn.
My lessons begin with a checkup of the skills needed to tackle the problems within the lesson and once these are reviewed, the main content of the lesson begins. This involves scaffolding the student's understanding and then once I am happy for the student to practice, they are given a set of questions that I will have prepared prior to the lesson. This allows for a balance between the tutor(me) and the student practicing what they have learnt.
