I have been a teacher for nearly 25 years. I have taught students from KS4 to KS2 with a range of needs including SEN needs such as dyslexia. as well as mainstream. I enjoy effectively supporting students with their study as I am accustomed to building rapport quickly, and helping students to develop knowledge and confidence.
In addition to this I am also experienced in 1:1 and small group tuition. As well as being an examiner for Pearson GCSE maths I have also worked for them as a tutor for the last three years.
I like to work with students online using Bramble for 1:1 tuition. This acts as an online blackboard and room where we go through different problems to build understanding so that students are able to better understand areas where they are currently unsure.
I am also accustomed to teaching face-to-face and so am willing to do this if this is what the student requires and is most comfortable with.
It is most useful if, at the beginning of the tuition, we discuss strengths and areas that require improvement. If it is appropriate a short diagnostic assessment can also be useful to ensure that the level of the student's understanding can be gauged so that we are able to focus on weaker areas immediately.
It is important to me that the student enjoys their learning with me so I use a range of strategies to ensure that they have a really positive and effective learning journey.
