I would like to begin by emphasizing that, although I studied law at University, I soon discovered that I was more suited to pedagogy and languages. Initially I worked for Inlingua, one of the world’s leading language training organizations with centres in thirty-four countries. Inlingua favours a dynamic teaching style and its communicative approach has made it very successful.
In 1995 I embarked on a TEFLA course, known presently as CELTA. The sessions were conducted at International House Madrid and monitored by tutors that reported to Cambridge University. I found the course extremely interesting and productive. At International House I learnt to plan my lessons carefully, manage a group and develop activities that have appealed to students around the world throughout my career.
One of the best experiences -personally and professionally- that I have had in my life happened in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where I was employed by New Gateway International School as a Director of Studies. My duties at NGIS involved interviewing applicants, observing lessons, preparing class materials and teaching. I supervised the work of people who came from five different continents.
My family and I spent five years in Carlow, Ireland, where my children attended school and we interacted with the local community greatly. As a remote worker, I nowadays teach English, Spanish and Catalan for Learnlight. Our students hold senior positions at large companies based internationally and learn on a one-to-one basis or as part of a group. I am also a class material developer. Over the past fifteen years, I have produced an enormous amount of pedagogical materials that have been used by several language consultants. I consider myself a creative person and I believe that that is reflected in the exercises and activities that I write and design. Finally, I am a freelance translator specializing in the legal area.
I am available immediately and look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
