Hi everyone!
My name is Serena and I am originally from Italy. I am writing to express my strong interest in the tutoring position at as I have always been passionate about languages. Indeed, I moved to London in 2011 to improve my English and three years later I decided to study Translation in London.
Languages have always been a significant part of my life, and I am fluent in Italian, English. Since I have been living in London for over a decade, I have developed a deep appreciation for cultural aspects and their nuances when communicating with people from diverse backgrounds. I believe that language learning not only enriches our communication skills but also fosters cross-cultural understanding, which is invaluable in today's interconnected world.
I have honed my language teaching abilities through informal language exchange, and this made me realise each student is different and that my passion for languages and dedication to helping others achieve their language learning goals make me a strong candidate for this role. Moreover, with a Bachelor's degree in Translation Studies I have a strong English and Italian grammar background which is essential when learning a foreign language.
As a tutor, I will be committed to creating a supportive and positive learning environment, where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and making mistakes—an essential aspect of language acquisition. I understand the challenges that language learners face, being a bilingual person myself, and I will be patient and persistent in guiding them towards proficiency :)
