My lessons will be formatted in a way so that I can assess the students current understanding of the topic of the lesson by asking questions at the start, this helps me to know what areas need to be focused on more. After I have gauged their understanding I will use my own subject knowledge and resources I have prepared to teach the student the areas of the topic that they need the most help in, after this the student will have a go at applying what they have learnt into questions as the application of what they learnt will consolidate their understanding.
Finally at the end of each lesson I will ask the students what they would like to focus on next lesson so that I can prepare resources to support them in the next lesson.
The lessons I teach may vary from student to student as some students learn differently to others, these adaptions will be made as the lessons go on as I gain a better understanding of how they learn and their level of metacognition, this will allow me to tailor the lessons to best support their success.
During each lesson I will make sure that students are engaged and focused so that they can benefit from our time but I also believe that learning should be fun and rewarding for students so they will be more inclined to enjoy learning outside of lessons. I will also make sure that my students are aware of their own metacognition (which is about how they learn and overcome challenges) and how they can improve their metacognitive skills to benefit their learning in the long term.
