Selina Whitehead

I am a native English speaker who has experience helping adults develop their English, as well as helping primary school children (specifically with their reading). I also have a particular talent for English as a teaching subject. This is as I achieved an A in English language A level. I am currently studying law at university. I am also currently learning Polish, so I understand how it feels to learn a new language and the complexity of it.

My lessons will be tailored to each individual’s ability, aims and learning style. Lessons will involve a mixture of speaking, reading and writing so that you are developing all areas of English. The topic of the lesson will be split into those three areas. However, if you feel you need to work more on your writing ability than speaking, for example, then the lesson can be altered accordingly.

Before we start working together, a consultation will take place in which I get to know more about your/your child’s current ability and what your goals are. I will also find out your preferred learning style. After the consultation, I will create a plan for your/your child’s lessons and send you the outlines of them to see if you are satisfied.

Additionally, I will provide resources for you/your child to use outside of the planned lessons, to develop skills in your/their own time.

I will also make the lessons fun! They won’t feel like a chore or boring and I can do this further through incorporating your/your child’s interests into the lessons. For example, if your child loves dinosaurs, I can involve dinosaur characters into the lessons that ‘help them learn’.
