I believe fully in finding what works best for each student. I find in general using concrete/pictorial and then progressing into abstract such as questions and book work is most successful and deepens understanding. Using interactive tools and learning/educational games can also help develop understanding. Although I prefer to do online sessions if local I could arrange in person sessions of more suited to the needs of the child. Patience and positive reinforcement is key when teaching new skills. I also believe in relating learning to the real world to help children to make connections with what they are learning and using what interests them to help them connect better with lesson content and helps to get to know the learner better too.
I am a primary school teacher in the Renfrewshire area and a wide range of experience working with children and young people in a range of settings such as nurseries, primary schools, youth clubs, brownies and guides and even in children's clubs overseas.
