I first conduct a "needs analysis" - a conversation in which we discuss your fitness goals and training history in order to determine the best (and most realistic) approach to achieving your aims.
I then produce a optimised bespoke exercise and nutrition plan in line with those needs, which I would go through with you to fine-tune to your preferences.
From there, I provide coaching during workouts, giving advice on technique to ensure you remain safe and get the most out of each movement. Additionally, I am a big believer in positive reinforcement and feel strongly that positive reinforcement is the best approach in helping you push yourself.
Effort is necessary to achieve any fitness goal, but pushing too hard and burning out (or getting injured) is just as detrimental as failing to work hard enough - my focus will be on ensuring you get the balance right in each session.
My experience with private clients and Leeds Beckett University sports groups - as well as my time as an assistant instructor in Tae Kwon Do, a martial art in which I have earned a black belt (1st dan) - has honed my ability to provide coaching cues and corrections with clarity and confidence.
As a Sport and Exercise Science Master's student, I keep up-to-date with scientific studies and research in the field of body composition, muscle growth and fat loss as well as exercise techniques. As a result, my recommendations and suggestions are always based on peer-reviewed literature, science and evidence rather than personal opinion.
