I have a 2:1 joint honours degree in History and English and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with 18 years of experience working in further education with students from 16-70. I have over 9 years of experience as a home tutor with a high success rate at A level and GCSE in English Lit and Language and History, typically with students between the ages of 15-18 and occasionally older undergraduate students.

I am personable and I always provide extra value spending up to at least 1 hour preparing for sessions and follow-up tasks for students. I believe students should be comfortable working with me to get the best out of my sessions. Where applicable, I keep parents informed of their child’s progress and think it is very important to have good relationships with parents and students.

I quickly identify the strengths and limitations of students and tailor their learning accordingly. I plan tasks for them between sessions to address their needs and prepare them well for exams.

I use a variety of information to support student learning including video platforms, past papers and workbooks. I direct students to helpful websites related to their studies to encourage independent study alongside supported study.
