Basically the principle of any method used on a beginners level. E.g. In English on a basic reading level I would use automatically used a part picture page and part reading page on the same one page. This is for myself, by seeing if the student can identity quickly or slowly all shapes an sizes in their own object optical images. By naming what they're all called in English by simply writing it down what they actually see on a separate blank piece of paper. In what they think it is in English of what they see on the page? Secondly I would ask the student to say verbally what they see. I would also used another strategy by moving onto easy reading basic children books to see how independent the student is (i.e.) they're confidents? To see what level they maybe on by seeing what they are reading, which will show their strengths and weakness. When I will then intervene with needed help. E.g. How to break down words whether they're just 4 letters to make up a an actually word right up to if it were a word that is made up to16 letter's that make up just that one word. Each word comes with more than one definition with the same one meaning this is what i want hear from a student as this method is how to develop the student vocabulary within the English language, whether it's written or read. This quick exercise task will be asked to the student too name simply as many meaning of the one word, and if they are able to write all them down whether if the spelling is correct or not. It will directly identify that the student knows exactly what seeing an saying, with the correct meaning within the confirmation the student understand the pages of the story at hand. My methodology basic methods projections are extracted through visual an verbal illustrations of how to fluently break a student effectively into the English language that isn't the student first language. Or for children who may be able to read a sentence fluently on a story page book. But may not full understand the meaning of what they are reading in contents.
For the basic maths principle I would use the simple method of time table questions quizzes to see if the student understand to apply all the mathematical principal methods (i.e.) Times, Addition, Subtraction and Division and basic fractions. I would definitely would say if the student really grasp my method on a fast but easy level. I believe taking a little bit more time with the student to simplify by teaching the student how to read a questions inside and out, to then be able too answer any question with a correct answer.
However I believe you have to understand English fluently to be able too answer any mathematical question correctly!
