I teach lessons in an interactive and conversational way, constantly keeping the student involved. I will keep a regular line of communication open so that we can adapt the lessons to tend to the students needs. Once we have established a plan of action, most of the lessons will typically start with a walkthrough example, and then time to work through questions, both independently and together.
