Hello and welcome. I am Scott, a veteran English teacher with an incredible passion for the language. I earned advanced degrees in my subject, as well as EFL teaching certification.

I have made a living teaching to young adults in both college and university classrooms and one-to-one online in both the UK and overseas. I also teach business English in the corporate sector.

I promote consultation on what areas of language study you wish to accentuate.
Classes will be tailored according to your preferences and my recommendations.

As a part-time writer myself, my specialist field is composition. If you would like to see your writing skills blossom, you could do worse than have me as a mentor.

This year I have helped 14 graduate students from China to nudge their IELTS band up by a half point in readiness for postgraduate UK study. This we completed with some success.

Using a blended style of pedagogy, i encourage the learning process to be one where asynchronous, independent study forms a parallel backbone to your live sessions. It’s vital, and stimulating, to use real authentic materials (including contemporary media) to form the narrative of your English study. Live online sessions are better when both productive and receptive skills are being employed. For more advanced students, i’d encourage a less rigid programme of teaching, to one where a less prescriptive syllabus makes the learning journey freer and more enjoyable.
