I have been playing guitar for over 15 years and have performed at many live venues in Manchester. I have experience in teaching 1 to 1 sessions primarily for beginners either in person or remotely. I have a First Class BA (Hons) in Music production and I have studied music performance for 4 years.

In the lessons I provide we will discuss the goals you would like to achieve. This could be ‘I just want to play along to my favourite songs in my spare time’ or ‘I want to headline Glastonbury with my band.’ Either way I will tailor the lessons to assist you to achieve your goals.

The basic structure for beginners would be:

Learning standard tuning and how to tune the guitar.
Playing open chords and learning basic guitar theory to help give more of an understanding what notes make up the chords. (Please note if you do not wish to learn too much theory we will not!)
I will teach you how to read chord diagrams.
We will look at various simple songs which use open chords.
We will then work on transitioning from one chord to another.
We will work on timing whilst playing along to various songs.

Once your transitions are smooth and you are playing in time to a record. Then we can progress onto the next steps. To summarise this will include:

Bar chords
Picking
Power chords
Suspended chords
Major and minor scales
Pentatonic scale
7th and 9th chords
Soloing
Reading guitar tabs
Improvised soloing
And many more!

The order of these topics will vary depending on what you wish to learn. It is your journey, I just want to do everything I can to help and more importantly make it enjoyable!

I can also provide handouts to further assist you with your learning outside of the lessons.
