Going through education myself I found teaching styles can vary a lot however the ones that work best are the ones that keep you engaged. Lack of application can lead to knowing the content but not being able to answer exam questions so I like to add a mix of the tried and true text book revision with application questions to consolidate knowledge and allow myself to properly use what I learn. I've found this very helpful for friends that I help with thier own study to be an effective way of tutoring them.

Me being a student as well I can relate more to my student and this allows me to keep them engaged, productive and gives a proper understanding of the material without wasting time.
