Mathematics is all about practice and being exposed to different types of problems.
I find the best way to understand a topic is to master the fundamentals. All difficult problems always use the fundamentals and it is being able to apply it, is what students find hard.
Using diagrams and examples before attempting the questions is a great way to visualise and use as reference when answering an exam-style question.
Continuing to do more of this method, will lead to muscle memory and students will find it second nature when answering future questions.
Taking notice of key words and phrases can instantly trigger a students brain to a certain topic and that is fundamental during an exam where timing yourself is really important.
