With over 20 years of experience playing and teaching the drums, I am confident in my ability to provide quality instruction to children and adults alike.
During my time as a drumming tutor, I have worked with students of all ages and skill levels. I believe that every student is unique and has their own learning style. Therefore, I tailor my teaching methods to suit each student's individual needs and goals.
One of the key aspects of my teaching approach is building a strong foundation. I start by teaching the basic techniques of drumming, such as posture, grip, and coordination. By focusing on these fundamentals, students develop a solid base to build upon as they progress.
I also emphasize the importance of rhythm and timing. I use various exercises and drills to help students improve their sense of timing and develop a strong internal clock. This is crucial for playing with other musicians and being able to adapt to different musical styles.
In addition to technique and timing, I incorporate music theory into my lessons. I believe that understanding music theory helps students become well-rounded musicians. I teach concepts such as note values, time signatures, and basic music notation, which enhance the student's overall musical knowledge.
To keep students engaged and motivated, I introduce a wide range of musical genres. Whether it's rock, jazz, or Latin music, I expose students to different styles and rhythms. This not only expands their musical repertoire but also encourages creativity and a deeper appreciation for different genres.
