I helped 100 people practice Japanese in Canada, University of Calgary, and gave some small lessons to people about pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. Most of them didn't know many Japanese words, but I taught how to make sentences with words that they already knew. While when they were a beginner, I spoke English to them at first and started to mix some Japanese words in the conversation, so that they could start touching Japanese slowly and naturally without a barrier, hesitation or shyness. I also did some model conversation imagining a specific situation, when they wanted to use specific words, because I believe that listening and using words in real conversation is the most effective way to learn new language naturally!
