I am a current student at Durham Univeristy and having done my GCSEs and ALevels only a few years ago I am very familiar with exams that secondary students have to do and the difficulties they may face. I have been tutoring professional for over 2 years but have only recently expanded onto this website as well. Each lesson is personalised to each student and the programme is discussed in a brief meeting with the parents and student. Here are things done with previous students. 1) A 5-7 minute review of content covered in last few lessons. This is especially useful for students who struggle with retention of topics. 2) Setting work for between lessons for parents or students that request the extra benefit from practising more. 3) Every few lessons doing a whole lesson on review. 4) At the beginning of lessons discussing what the key points we will be covering are then going through content and examples, followed by moving on to practice and exam questions when ready. 5) Working through practice questions in an increasing difficulty in order to build confidence, while going through the possible questions that could be asked and how we could approach each one.
