I have many years of experience working on projects as an A.I.R ( artist in residence ) with young adults, Men and women, young and old, as well as women -only groups and individually, one to one. I worked with adults with learning disabilities on drawing projects for eight years and we held exhibitions. I taught refugees painting, and I love working with diverse groups from all backgrounds. My sessions are designed to help build confidence, particularly in Drawing, as it is one of the best ways to express oneself without words. From basic drawing skills pupils can build on this their own arts practise, and there are no rules or limitations, you must only have enthusiasm and curiosity.
Drawing from life, from the model, copying from photographs, this is how we learn to draw.
For the classes there is no "homework " only what you would like me to see you have produced, no matter how tentative. Putting pencil, pastel or charcoal to paper is the first step.
Encouragement is my main task, the person who wishes to learn will do the rest.
For this reason I ask that the person/ or group learning to draw and paint makes an initial appointment of one hour, to see if this is something they really want to do, and not make a commitment until they wish to do so.
I aim to ensure everyone has the freedom to come and go with classes, as this is important for every artist.
