I am a very experienced music teacher and I have worked across the age range from age 3- 60! During my career I have taught in schools as well as privately. My experience includes piano , violin and music theory individual lessons, musical ensembles and I have also taught whole class music lessons. All students who have elected to take exams have achieved excellent results in ABRSM and Trinity Exams and those who are learning for fun progress well gaining thorough knowledge of the instrument and learn a wide repertoire of pieces. I will outline some of what I teach in lessons below.
Students will gain so much from each session, including technique on your instrument, knowledge of musical notation and aural skills- playing by ear and learning to improvise.
To enhance learning students will be taught repertoire suited to them but also learn about the many styles of music out there enabling them to get the most out of sessions and enjoy pieces they play.
On the piano there is the option to learn a more classical approach or to learn chords to accompany well-known songs of the students choice. Students will broaden their technique with a firm grasp of music theory learnt in a practical as well as theoretical way- getting to know scales and chords quickly. In violin sessions too the diversity of the instrument will be explored with fun folk as well as Classical repertoire.
Lessons are weekly and 30 minutes or an hour long as required.
