I am a conscientious hard-working geography tutor. I possess a 1st class geography degree from Durham University. I have a very strong belief that at the school level, geography tuition is often misaligned to exam board specifications and that students often find this subject necessarily difficult because they are not given the key techniques needed to flourish.

The challenge of gaining excellent marks within geography comes not through wrote knowledge accumulation, but instead through the demonstration of precise critical application of often elusive exam techniques. Therefore, I propose that my lessons take a highly methodological approach. I take students through different approaches to questions. Each tuition session is adapted to match specification needs and is tailored to a student's way of working. In addition, I use case
studies to back up knowledge and teach students how to apply this in a rigorous manner.

Secondly, another often underlooked aspect of geography at the school level is the importance of fieldwork. My tutor lessons will include elements of fieldwork revision, as I will explain the use of different concepts and how they apply to unique and varied human and physical theories.

To make my lessons both valuable and accessible, I promote myriad classroom technologies such as google classroom. This will aid the communication between students and myself, and let students access material easily.

I am a highly skilled and passionate teacher and above all, I believe geography to be a grossly misvalued subject within schooling. Geography can at first glance appear unwieldy, encompassing a vast array of sub-sections from physical to human topics. However, through my tuition, I will guide students into gaining greater clarity and hopefully generate a genuine interest in a subject that I believe to be endlessly enjoyable to study and teach.
