After 3 decades in the classroom, I remain fascinated as to how people learn and adopt a person-centred approach. Positive relationships, trust, fun and curiosity are at the heart of good learning. Whilst teaching content I also build resilience, confidence in questioning and experimenting in order to develop understanding. I enjoy exploring a range of ways to access the content of curriculum for the individual. I am creative, compassionate and nurturing in my approach.

I've many experiences of leading pupils and youngsters on to achieve what they thought was impossible both in terms of exam outcomes, in my work in the theatre and in their relationships with one another.

Here's a recent testimonial from Lancing College's Head of English:
'Sarah is an experienced and charismatic teacher, who knows how to motivate pupils. She established excellent relationships with the pupils she taught and did an excellent job of guiding them through the CIE IGCSE syllabus. She is warm, friendly, approachable and hard-working. I would recommend her highly to anyone looking for a private tutor for Drama, English Language or English Literature GCSE.'

From Melissa a GCSE tutee:
'So I have got my results, for English Language I got 6 and for Literature I got 6! Without you help I wouldn’t have been able to get there as before you I was predicted 4s and 5s. So THANK YOU. You made our lessons fun and enjoyable, as well as teaching me so much and making me feel so confident when going into exams. I can’t thank you enough for the help you have given me.'

From John, work-based adult learner:
'Before working with you, I struggled so much with my dyslexia and self-esteem. Wow! I've passed level 1 and 2 functional skills and started writing a novel! None of this ever made sense to me when I was at school, now I'm starting to understand tenses, syntax and feel much more confident in self-correction and expressing myself in writing.'
