Sara is a pianist, singer and songwriter. She has experience in teaching music to students of all ages. She was classically trained and achieved a piano Diploma at the Conservatoire in Pescara, Italy, in 2014. She also achieved a Bachelor Degree in Music at the University of Bristol in 2020 and is studying at the London Conducting Academy. She is also active as a singer-songwriter. In 2021 she released her debut single ‘Serendipity’, featured on BBC and prized in Italy, and ‘15 Again’, also featured as one of the weekly Earworms on BBC and winner of the Press Prize at the Italian national music competition ‘Il Cantagiro'. She is passionate about music, and she loves to pass on her passion to students. She loves all genres of music, from jazz to rock, from pop to classical and is available to help you achieve your musical goals.
Teaching in Piano
Sara teaches piano from beginners to advanced students.
She offers graded exams (Trinity College London and ABRSM).
In her piano lessons, she focuses on technical aspects, such as posture, finger strength, movements and articulation. Technique will always be taught in relation to existing pieces. In addition to that, she will focus on expression and interpretation, as well as on notions of music theory and aural exercises, as integral part of a performance. According to the level of the students and to their purpose, each lesson will start with a warm-up (depending on the genre, normally scales or aural exercises) and it will be followed up by technique exercises and the performance of the pieces. The last part of the class will be dedicated to the review and assignments.
Teaching in Singing
In your first singing class, Sara will assess your vocal strengths and weaknesses, as well as your range. She will suggest custom warmups to improve your vocal tone and range and adapt the song choices to your preferred music style. She will also help you enhance your stage presence and work on your artist branding.
Composition & Songwriting Lessons
In her composition and songwriting lessons, the focus will be on theory and structure. Notions of harmony will also be implemented in the class. Compositional techniques and genres will be illustrated as a starting point or as a reference for the students’ pieces.
Don’t worry if you are a total beginner! Lessons will be structured to help you overcome your issues in a fun and engaging way!
Genre
Sara specialises in classical music but teaches (almost) all genres, ranging from jazz, pop and contemporary music.
First lesson
During the first lesson, you will have a chat about your expectations and your knowledge of the subject. Depending on the level of the students, warm-up exercises could also be used to better understand their proficiency. You will also talk about your music tastes and listen to some music examples (all music styles are welcome and appreciated!)
Beginners
Piano students should have a piano or keyboard, a pencil and a notebook, as well as books they may already have (if not, books will be suggested by the teacher after the class). For composition and music theory students, a pencil, pen and paper book will be enough.
