Everyone has a preferred method of learning and the best way to find out which is best is to try them all and see which one suits you best. As the tutor I will try various methods of learning and see which method is best for the student and use that method for better understanding. Also, going over old content to refresh knowledge is very important. So, once a certain topic has been covered every couple of weeks I will test on the old topics we have covered. I am a student myself and know that school can be difficult so I can definitely relate to the student and have loads of understanding.
