Hello! My name is Santiago Pizarro, I am from Lima, Perú, and I am offering Singing, Music and Spanish lessons mostly to teenagers and older, and of any experience level, including students who are neurodivergent.

In my 3 years of teaching experience, I have opted for a teaching style that is based on creating a positive environment and having an encouraging approach with all students. I think it is crucial for them to feel like they are improving, so I will congratulate them, regardless of the importance of their achievements. Mistakes are only opportunities to learn, nothing more. Additionally, once I have gotten to know the students, their capabilities, and how they learn, I believe it is key to push the limits of their knowledge, within certain boundaries and when appropriate, in order to improve.

In the first lesson, I will talk with the students (and/or their parents, depending on the students’ age) to get a sense of their level with the subject, how they learn best, if they are neurodivergent, and what their goals with the lessons are. Naturally, since the lessons are tailored to each student, finding the right approach and student-teacher dynamic is usually a process.

In addition to being bilingual in Spanish and English, I have a conversational level of Italian, and know basic French, German, Russian and Chinese (Mandarin).

Finally, due to my 15-year career as an opera singer, I have taken English, Italian, French and German diction courses and have more than 6 years of experience with the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), an extremely useful tool to achieve proficiency in pronunciation.
