We start by going through a list of prior concepts and skills you'll need for the current topic. We revisit any of these concepts and skills which you're not confident in through exercises. Then we dive into a new topic using an anchor task or word problem - learning the concepts by connecting these with your prior knowledge. Depending on your confidence level, you can try solving the anchor task on your own or with friends (better way, I believe), asking me questions along the way. If, however, you feel you need more help, we can tackle this task together. We then do several problems of increasing challenge and you become more independent as you solve these on your own. You then choose a problem you confidently completed on your own and either write down how you solved this or you can verbally share the steps with me. Then I'll know that you've mastered the topic.
