Having worked with children from the ages of 5-17 aiding them with their maths and English work I’ve found that using practical methods to be useful, this includes going through problems such as exam papers or various maths exercises to understand what questions are asking students. To ensure captive learning, lessons will be engaging they will involve questions that are thought provoking. Due to the pandemic much of my degree was online, I found myself having to teach myself a lot of the content. To make this interesting for myself and ensure I was properly engaging with my studies, I used various study techniques such as blurting, which involves reading parts of my work that I’d hidden in order to test myself.
The lessons will be organised, goals will be set for what needs to be achieved within lessons and these will be tested with answering questions. These questions are not exams, you will not be criticised for not understanding a topic but they are instead used for me to understand which areas you are not sure of and need assistance on. These questions can take the form of exercises that we would go through or me simply asking you a question or flash cards. Furthermore, the questions will be based on what is needed. My tutoring will be tailored to your needs to ensure that you are receiving help with areas that you require assistance on, other areas may also be explored to further your understanding if necessary.
