My sessions will be entirely based on the student’s personal goals whether they are working towards an exam like GCSE or if they just want to advance their grammar skills beyond what they learn in class. To find out what to focus my sessions on, I will offer a free consultation where the student will tell me their personal goals and the specific aspects of the language they find difficult and I will design my own lessons to help pursue these goals.

For example, you might tell me "I am finding tenses difficult" in that case I’ll ask for the specific tenses you may have learnt in class but would like explained more in depth and with more practice. Then I may do lessons on the differences between certain tenses (i.e. the past perfect vs imperfect). Or maybe you’re struggling with speaking; in that case we can look over any speaking assessments you might have to do and I can correct you on any mistakes to build confidence (remember my number one rule: don’t be afraid of making mistakes!)

Through my experience teaching English in Paris during my placement year, I learned how to tailor my lessons to different age groups from nursery to secondary school and how to plan lessons to suit a variety of learning styles for individual students whether that’s visual, auditive or kinaesthetic. Teaching in Paris was an incredible experience that convinced me even more to get into teaching or tutoring as a career.
