As experienced teacher, students perceived mathematics to be difficult. I relate mathematics concepts with their immediate environment for example when teaching Sets, I use supermarkets and shops for students to tell me how the items are arranged.
Solving problems is done many ways followed by its application. I allow students to communicate orally and in writing by giving them a few minutes to discuss their reasoning with each other thus engagement.
Everyone can get lost during the class period, so a quick formative assessment to determine how much was learned, reviewing the objectives in a brief discussion and previewing the homework together.
