English language is a subject I’m well versed in and have studied vastly due to how much I simply enjoy it. My methods of teaching it will mimic my learning it which is through a mix of formal and informal learning. Using the updated syllabus for the class or level you are in, I would construct a lesson plan that would involve classroom teaching and written work. However, I would also include educational games, videos and perhaps some movies to support the learning. I personally believe that to learn a language properly, it’ll take more than just reading and writing it, you will have to live and breath it too. It has to surround your everyday life and that is what I intend to do.
I have taught children ages 3-12 with this method over the years and I’ve found that it bears the best results. Even my adult clients have found that when there’s an equal amount of regular class work and then other activities that are outside the class work and incorporated in their daily lives, they learn not just quicker but better.
The lessons would be in a relaxed semi formal atmosphere. While the progression of the classes will follow the tuteé’s level and syllabus, there would also be conversations around what they feel they struggle with more or the manners in which they would prefer learning. All this is to bolster confidence in them and help me create a well rounded approach to their learning experience.
