We’ll begin by identifying your areas of strength and challenge and, if possible, I’d like to see some samples of previous work. I’ll ask you about your learning goals and how you prefer to learn and in order to tailor your lessons around your preferences. It’s important that we identify any areas of additional need/ blocks to learning so that I can help you overcome them. You can set the pace mostly but there will be times when I feel we need to spend more time on certain areas, so that those skills and knowledge are properly embedded.
Lessons will start with a recap from the previous lesson’s learning and I’ll review whether we need to revisit any of the content, build on it or move onto something else. If there’s anything we need to revisit, I’ll find out and explain really clearly what the misconceptions are so that you can have another go. I’ll give clear feedback all along the way and when presenting new content, will ensure that we’re studying it according to the objectives you need to meet. At the end of every lesson, you’ll put what you’ve learned into practice. If required, I can set and feedback to you on some longer assessments.
There’ll be lots of thought-provoking questions, and encouragement to think deeply and critically. Learning can be a serious business but I’ll ensure that there’s fun to be had on the way, with challenging but engaging. As a teacher with 17 years classroom experience, I have plenty of strategies and subject knowledge to pass on.
