My aim is to get my students speaking and trying Chinese quickly. To begin with I will help them to improve their listening skills and then enhance their speaking abilities. There will be four parts to each lesson
1. Briefly introduce the content of the story and let everyone listen to it and ask questions to clarify understanding.
2. Tell a story through videos or pictures. Watch videos based in a fully Chinese environment. I will use body language and facial expressions to help students understand Chinese stories.
3. Answer the students' questions first, and then the students will answer some questions. If they don’t understand, we can do it again using more simplified language or visual aids. There will be lots of situations where the students will understand what is being said but may not be able to respond. They could draw their response to show understanding. I will provide some tips and options for them to make choices and help them gain confidence first.
4. When they begin to respond to the question correctly, I will increase the difficulty and gradually improve oral expression ability.
When students feel good about themselves or find the class very rewarding, they will recommend me to their friends.
