Growing up in school I had few teachers who were passionate about their subjects and only a handful showed me why an interest in a subject is so important. I developed a love for science as it helped me understand everything around me.
From its fundamental physics determining the interactions of chemistry defining the nature of biology. Using visual concepts and diagrams help explain topics and mechanisms very well as they did for me. Too many words can flood a mind and using visual aids can help simplify anything to help understand it completely.
I start with understanding the students needs and their current level of knowledge then explain to them a plan to help improve and excel in their subjects with me. Collaboration consists of setting clear goals to accomplish with outlined objectives to reach in each lesson, aligned with curriculum standards. As well as provision of practice work to do in their own time to ensure content is being trained well.
Always being supportive and sharing my own experiences can help gauge the right perspective for students to help them develop their own interests in what they want to do and who they want to be in their futures. Helping develop their understanding from basic levels to advanced and complex levels of knowledge to help shape their mindsets into a more than suitable example for their next step, whether its an apprenticeship or university.
Willing to help guide them through the process of figuring out what to do in their future can ensure more confidence and more determination for their interests in their chosen future fields.
