Learning should be fun, exciting and engaging. I will assess the student to understand their strengths and weaknesses to tailor activities to help overcome misconceptions, learn new methods and, most importantly, build confidence.
I have over two years of experience tutoring the 11+ exam and I am able to support and coach children through a variety of methods and approaches to tackling the exams. I am familiar with a variety of resources and techniques to enable children to work through the exams accurately, effectively and efficiently.
In maths, we will cover various ways to solve problems, find the method that works best for us and build a complete understanding in order to tackle more challenging higher-order thinking questions. I have undertaken maths specialist training when completing my Primary Teaching PGCE and therefore I will be able to support children and coach them using approved resources and by following up-to-date research.
In English, we can focus on areas that need more attention, embedding SPaG into conversations and looking at different activities in order to help the student develop. Reading for fun and enjoyment is a key concept in improving all aspects of English and we will find topics and resources that engage each child, depending on their personal preferences.
Learning and education is a constant and evolving process that we will go through this together, looking at areas which need improving and the ways this can be overcome to give the student more confidence going forward. Please feel free to ask any questions!
